EPFL Solutions4Sustainability project on CCUS aims to cut down the CO2 footprint of EPFL. The project is a collaboration among several EPFL PIs on three different campuses (Lausanne, Valais, Neuchâtel), and among many schools (SB, STI, and ENAC).
This will be achieved by developing a large-scale demonstrator for carbon capture from a waste incinerator (Enevi in Uvrier, Valais) and valorizing captured CO2 into renewable methane. The project will also study underground storage of CO2, and at the same time develop small-scale demonstrator for direct air capture and CO2 valorization in value-added chemical.
