The production of cement clinker is the most energy-intensive phase in the manufacture of Portland cement. Alternatives to traditional Portland cement such as limestone calcined clay cement (LC3)1 have the potential to reduce CO2 emissions considerably. Our aim is to test concrete made with these alternate materials on a structural scale to validate their use in large-scale construction.
