This document includes two types of information about assessing EPFL students’ learning. First, it contains some recommendations for EPFL teachers on how to organise different types of assessment and
assessment procedures. Second, it contains practical guidance for teachers to plan and execute formal examinations in accordance with the rules currently in force at EPFL. These rules derive from Swiss law, directives and ordinances concerning examinations at EPFL (Lex), and instructions communicated by the
EPFL direction.
The distinction between recommendations and obligations is indicated graphically by the vertical green line: obligations are accompanied by a solid line and recommendations are accompanied by a dotted line.
