It is with great pleasure that OChE, the Lausanne Student Chamber Orchestra, organizes the fifth edition of its annual competition. We offer a new chance to participate in our spring season concerts as a soloist, accompanied by our orchestra.
Our orchestra is composed of students, amateur and passionate musicians. We work without a conductor since our creation in 2013.
The competition is a good opportunity to play a program with a friendly and united orchestra, so the good atmosphere is an important factor for us. Thus, during the semester, if you choose to participate, we will ask you to be present at a number of rehearsals, which take place on Tuesday evenings. Your collaboration with our concertmaster will also be an important part of your semester with us.
Calendar
The contest will again consist of two rounds. The first will be made of a selection on file, at the end of which 5 candidates will be retained for the second, during which they will be auditioned with a piano.
The calendar is organized as following:
- November: Start of admission of the files
- December 23rd : Deadline for the submission of the files
- January 20th: Admission Hearings at the HEMU
Registration file
The file should consist of:
- A cover letter, including the piece you want to play with us
- A CV
- A recording, ideally video, of a service that shows you in a good light
- The registration form
The work you suggest will be a decisive factor for our committee. Our headcount is Mannheim-like (strings, 2.2.2.2, 2.2.0.0, timpani). If discrepancies are possible, the orchestration must be consistent with our orchestra. Conditions of registration
The contest will resume the same conditions as last year: the student must be registered in minimum instrument BA3 at the HEM and be a membre of ADE. The contest is free and with a stamp ; it is open to all instruments and to all time periods. A group application is possible but a group video is requested.
Our spring concerts will take place the first of May 2023 at Salle Paderewski in Lausanne, and the 14th of May 2023 at Cossonay.
