Open Collaboration

Collaboration in research can take many forms, ranging from simple data sharing to more complex partnerships involving joint funding, publications, and intellectual property. Collaborations can occur within or across multiple institutions and involve researchers from different disciplines, countries, and cultural backgrounds.

To facilitate research collaboration, EPFL offers resources that enable and foster sharing and collaboration on various documents.

Collaboration Search

Thanks to the EPFL Graph Search, you can efficiently navigate through the complexity of the EPFL academic world (courses, sessions, concepts, people, publications and laboratories) in order to better understand it, quickly find information, create new collaborations and make decisions.

Collaborative Reference Management

Zotero is a free, easy-to-use tool to help you collect, organize, annotate, cite, and share research. With EPFL affiliation you have access to unlimited storage.

Collaboration Spaces

Microsoft 365 consists of the Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, Publisher and Access), as well as a set of online services such as OneDrive, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams etc… The Office suite allows you to work offline like the traditional MS Office suite but also from a web browser.

*You have to request a collaborative group prior to adding individuals to your collaborative group. You can find relevant information on the service info webpage.

The EPFL Google Workspace service gives EPFL’s Google Workspace for Education access to users with an email address at EPFL.

OnlyOffice integration gives SWITCHdrive possibility to allow real-time collaboration on shared documents. No local software installation is required. Access is possible via desktop client, browser or mobile application

Collaborative Writing

Registering to the service with an @epfl.ch address gives you access to a premium account (unlimited number of collaborative documents, connection with your Zotero account, etc.). The platform allows you to submit your documents directly to different publishers (IEEE Journal, Springer, etc.) or open archives repositories (arXiv, etc.) for possible publication.
