We have some exciting news to share: we have just completed the first phase of an important pilot project that will shape the future of our laboratory for years to come!
The initiative is called Green Labs, and it is part of EPFL’s 2030 Strategy — a forward-thinking program designed to significantly reduce CO2 emissions from research laboratories across the institution.
This pilot phase kicked off in 2025, with a series of inspiring meetings and events led by EPFL sustainability experts. From our Lab, Arianna actively participated in these sessions and brought all the key insights back to the group — a fantastic effort that helped set the whole process in motion!
As first step, we have created a new internal document outlining clear guidelines and best practices to help PERL reduce its environmental footprint. But we are not stopping there — our next ambitious goal is to work towards obtaining one of the most prestigious sustainability certifications in academia: the LEAF certification.
A great thank you to the entire Green Labs team for organizing this initiative with such dedication and enthusiasm. We are truly grateful for your support and look forward to continuing this journey together towards a greener future for the PERL!
