Pin-Slip transition in sloshing

Figure: Contact line model

The idea is to solve the sloshing oscillation in 2D on successive time intervals where either

  •  the contact line slips by projecting on free slip eigenmodes
  • the contact line is pinned by projecting on the pinned eigenmodes.

At every transition in the boundary condition, the solution is projected from one basis to the other and generates plenty of modes. The higher
order modes get quickly damped. In a sense, we solve a discontinous evolution problem which is piecewise linear.
