Shape optimization of acousto-fluidic systems

Master/Semester Project

When a fluid is subjected to a time-harmonic excitation, acoustic streaming can occur: a mean flow is generated close to sharp edges. This streaming can be used to move particles in microchannels and micro-devices (pumps, mixers, etc).
In this project, the shape of a sharp edge will be optimized by combining an efficient flow simulation method, and adjoint-based optimization.
