Modeling melt electro writing beam

Project description:

Melt electro writing is a 3D printing technique enabling the printing of threads of 1-30 microns in diameter. The technique uses an high voltage field (~10kV) to accelerate and thin down the melted liquid thread. The purpose of this semester or master project is to model this (axisymmetry-preserving) thinning phase and thereby to predict the parameter region in which the jet stays intact and does not break into drops before touching the collector. The results of the model will be compared to experimental results obtained in the labs of Prof. Moser and Prof. Brugger.
