How do we remember?

Our research

Our research interests are broadly centered on the neurobiology of memory, particularly episodic memory, our conscious recollection of the past. We study the computational role of the hippocampus and associated structures in memory formation. Our approach combines large-scale recordings of neural activity with virtual reality to study hippocampal-cortical circuits in behaving mice. We study the connections between these observed neural dynamics and models of memory encoding in artificial neural networks.
