Engineer in materials processing

Your mission :

We are looking for an engineer in materials science and processing or related discipline, who will be part of the laboratory of Photonic Materials and Fiber Devices, and will be involved in different projects regarding fiber processing. 60% of the time will be dedicated to a project in collaboration with an industrial partner on the optimization of the processing of metallic glasses. Another part of the mission amounting to around 30% of the time, will be to develop fiber-based sensors and their 3D assembly within composite parts. The remaining time will be dedicated to the building of experimental set-ups for the laboratory.

Main duties:

  • Develop processing parameters for the optimization of the fabrication of metallic-glass based fibers;
  • Develop novel approaches for nano-composite based fiber sensors and their integration within 3D composite parts.
  • Establish transfer of technology to industrial partners.
  • Support the building of experimental set-ups for fundamental and applied research.

Profile:

We are looking for an engineer with an engineering (HEL or equivalent) or Master degree in Materials engineering and processing, Materials science or related disciplines.

We offer:

  • A stimulating environment within an international team of students and researchers at the forefront of materials science and engineering;
  • An opportunity to learn a variety of novel processing approaches in various industries and field of application.
  • An opportunity to work on fundamental research projects as well as in collaboration with industrial partners.

If you are interested, please send your CV with a motivation letter describing your background, previous achievements and interests directly to Prof. Sorin ([email protected]). Please provide also the name of at least 2 references.

Ph. D and Postdocs Positions

We are always looking for outstanding and highly motivated people willing to work on challenging scientific projects, in a serious but also friendly and very cooperative and team-work oriented environment. If we are convinced by the motivation and high quality of a candidate, we may generate a corresponding Ph. D or postdoc position. Please send spontaneous applications to Prof. Fabien Sorin even if there is no current opening suitable for you.
