CREATE Lab

The CREATE Lab (Computational Robot Design & Fabrication Lab) aims to develop new fabrication and computational design tools for the development of robots with new and exciting capabilities, and to better understand the physical world.

Our research objective is to change how we design and use robots.  Firstly, to develop new fabrication methods for improved capabilities for robots – looking at how we make increasing complex, multi-material sensorized structures that allow for human-like intelligent environmental interactions.  The second goal is to use robots for large scale physical experimentation to understand complex phenomena or physical occurrances, and to allow for data-driven design methods to be applied.  For example, to explore and understand the complexities of taste in cooking, or to optimize complex agricultural and biological systems.
