Phone Services

The UC service provides each EPFL employee with the following services:

  • IP telephone lines opening with EPFL-internal numbers
  • IP deskphones and Jabber softphones
  • Voicemail integration in users’ desktop: voicemail messages received by email, multiple remote access…
  • Mobility by unifying mobile phone and EPFL extension

To submit your requests, please use the UC standard application forms.

The UC standard application forms are open to all EPFL staff and SSC staff, after authentication.

6945 Request a Jabber phone line

To request the activation of a new personal telephone line and the Jabber feature for Windows, Mac, Android, iPad or iPhone, or a softphone for Linux.

Accessories (headset and webcam) are provided on demand.

phone Request a personal IP Phone

To request either the activation of a new personal telephone line with an IP deskphone assigned to you, or an IP deskphone in exchange for your softphone accessories (if you already have a telephone line).
Request submitted for internal approval (see conditions).
Please ensure that a network socket is activated in the room.

6945 Request a shared IP Phone : office, lab, wall or conference

6945 Request softphone accessories

To request a headset and/or a webcam for softphone in exchange for your deskphone or your older accessories.
Request submitted for internal approval.

6945 Reassign a telephone line to anothe person or to a room

Change the holder of a line for a Jabber softphone or a personal IP phone (see conditions).

Reassign a shared phone to a collaborator (see conditions).

Reassign a personal phone to a room (shared phone), due to the departure of its user.

Change the displayed room on a shared phone when moving the phone. The deskphone must be moved like any other IT device.

6945 Enable or disable the Voicemail

Voicemail can not be enabled on a shared IP Phone.

6945 Enable or disable the International call option

Request submitted for internal approval.

Enable other phone services – Change phone settings

To express your request, if any form appears in the list.

Example: creating a call interception group, adding / deleting a line from a call interception group, activating / deactivating mobility with EPFL mobile phones …

6945 Cancel a telephone line

Jabber softphone: the line is cancelled and the user is asked to return his accessories to the secretariat of his unit or to the VPSI Service Desk.

IP Phone: if a user leaves EPFL, his line is cancelled and his IP Phone is either collected or configured in “Unalocated mode” to be reallocated to another person (see conditions).
