Our mission and goals
The IS Governance team’s mission is to supervise and harmonize practices and processes in support of the CIO’s strategic directions, using a value- and people-centered approach. It ensures the optimal use of financial and human resources and digital assets to guarantee the performance and sustainability of EPFL’s information system.

In order to ensure a secure and resilient digital environment, the Operational IT Security team implements and operates technical and operational measures designed to protect the information system.
Enterprise architecture
In order to guarantee a consistent, scalable, and sustainable information system, the enterprise architecture ensures its alignment and continuity.
Project and Program Portfolio Management
Project and Program Portfolio Management organizes, coordinates, and oversees the performance, lifecycle, and processes applicable to digitization and IT infrastructure projects and programs grouped together in a dedicated portfolio.
Software Asset Management
In order to ensure compliant and efficient management, Software Asset Management ensures compliance with legal requirements and optimizes costs related to EPFL’s software assets.
IT Service Management
In order to ensure the quality of IT services, IT Service Management oversees their management, supports their continuous improvement, and optimizes ITSM processes within EPFL.
Project Management
To facilitate digital transformation, the Project Management team supports business units in deploying digitization tools and IT infrastructure that meet their needs.
Back Office & Administration
To ensure the smooth running of the IT department, the Back Office & Administration team handles the administrative, financial, and HR management of all IT department activities.
