About

The Vice Presidency for Innovation and Impact (VPI) works to foster an entrepreneurial spirit among our students, postdocs and faculty members. It helps budding entrepreneurs through all steps of business creation with responses targeted to their needs. The VPI’s programs include financial assistance and networking opportunities in the local innovation ecosystem, with a view to getting startups off the ground and anchoring their market presence.

The VPI promotes technology transfer and knowledge sharing by supporting linkages between EPFL researchers and industry. The VPI works with established companies and research institutes that want to leverage our School’s capabilities – bolstering the Swiss business landscape in the process.

The VPI is also a key driver of EPFL Innovation Park – a vibrant hub for high-tech companies and a stimulating R&D environment for strategic joint projects – as well as the Switzerland Innovation Park Network West EPFL, which includes centers of excellence in other cantons.

I intend to further EPFL’s efforts to forge links with the business world and society at large. That will help anchor our School’s – and Switzerland’s – position in a world where it’s crucial to remain at the cutting edge of technological innovation. Every innovation has an impact, and our task will be to ensure that our impact on society will be positive going forward.
