The TransitionCompass web tool enables policymakers and researchers to visualize how policy decisions impact climate outcomes. The platform uses PyCalc computational models to provide real-time projections of greenhouse gas emissions, temperature changes, and environmental indicators across transport, buildings, energy, agriculture, and industry sectors.
Users adjust policy “levers”, representing regulatory approaches from strict to lax, and immediately see their impact through interactive visualizations. The tool offers three interface levels: simplified preset scenarios, a detailed interface for granular control, and domain-specific tabs showing sector interactions. Supporting multilingual accessibility and downloadable data, the platform makes complex climate modeling accessible for evidence-based policy decisions.
Developed in collaboration between LEURE Lab, which designed the climate model and specifications, and ENAC-IT4R, which built the web application architecture, backend API, and interactive frontend interface.
