Test machines

Over the years, the GIS platform has acquired several test machines which now cover a continuous range of load capacity for:

  • Static tests : -10MN to +2000kN
  • Dynamic tests : -1200kN to +1200kN

TREBEL 10MN

The TREBEL 10MN is a four-column servo-hydraulic static test machine with a maximum capacity of 10MN in compression. A smaller range load cell of 2000 kN of capacity is currently mounted on the machine to carry out more precise tests in lower levels of load.

Typical tests :

  • Compression tests (flat steel plate size: 560 x 900mm)
  • Traction tests*
  • Bending tests*

LFV 1500kN

The LFV 1500kN is a four-column servo-hydraulic dynamic test machine acquired by the GIS platform in 2025. This machine is equipped with hydraulic grips.

  • Load capacity : ±1500kN static, ±1200kN dynamic
  • Actuator stroke : 350mm
  • Maximum specimen height : 2200mm (clamping lengths in the jaws: 2 x 200mm included)
  • Distance between columns : 700mm in front, 400mm on the side
  • Jaws for round specimens : Ø20mm to Ø80mm
  • Jaws for flat specimens : 0mm to 100mm

SCHENCK 2500kN

The SCHENCK 2500kN is a multi-column servo-hydraulic static test machine with a maximum capacity of 2500kN only in compression. This machine is mainly used for concrete cylinder compression tests but can be adjusted for compression tests on any kind of material carrying a high level of load.

Typical tests :

  • Compression tests (flat steel plate diameter: 200mm)

  • Distance between the two front columns : 310mm

Amlser 850kN

The Amsler 850kN is a four-column servo-hydraulic static test machine with a maximum capacity of 850kN only in traction. This machine is mainly used for rebar tensile tests, but can be adjusted for traction tests on any kind of material carrying a high level of load. This machine is equipped with mechanical grips.

LFV 250kN

The LFV 250kN is a two-column servo-hydraulic test machine fully renovated by the GIS platform in 2020. This machine is equipped with hydraulic grips.

LFM C 50kN

The LFM C 50kN is a two-column electro-mechanical test machine. The machine’s design, with diagonally positioned columns, is perfect for bending tests. Mechanical grips can be mounted for tensile tests.

LFM 50kN

The LFM 50kN is a two-column electro-mechanical test machine with mechanical grips which is used to carry out tensile tests. It can also be used for compression or bending tests using adaption features. A climate room can be added to carry out tests under controlled temperatures.

INSTRON 100kN

The INSTRON 100kN is a two-column dynamic servo-hydraulic test machine with hydraulic grips which is used to carry out tensile tests. A climate room can be added to carry out tests under controlled temperatures. An extensometer is available to measure strain with high precision.

MTS 25kN

The MTS 25kN is a two-column dynamic servo-hydraulic test machine with hydraulic grips which is used to carry out tensile tests. Climate rooms can be added to carry out tests under controlled temperatures. An extensometer is available to measure strain with high precision.

The ACUMEN 3kN is a two-column dynamic electro-mechanical test machine with pneumatic grips which is used to carry out both tensile or bending tests.
