Digital fabrication

Since 2020, the GIS has begun to implement its own digital fabrication halls composed now of robotic arms, up-to-date CNC machines, 3D printers and scanning devices.

These last years, the GIS platform has acquired expertise to assist researchers in the use of digital fabrication equipment and in custom tools integration.

Here are a few videos of digital fabrication projects carried out in the GIS Platform.

Robotic arms

The GIS robotic halls are equipped with several ABB robotic arms : IRB6700, IRB2600 and cobots.

CNC machines

We are equipped for tests on all kinds of materials such as wood, metal, composite materials, etc.

A 6-axis wood CNC machine, a Waterjet and laser-cutting machine are all part of our digital fabrication equipment.

3D printers

From small-scale to large-scale printers, the GIS has its own filament 3D printer center.

Scanning

As scanning applications are heavily used in digital fabrication and are strongly complementary to 3D printers, the GIS acquired several 3D scanning devices for small- to large-scale areas of scanning.
