A Vision for Rome

From July 2025
to January 2026

The Habitat Research Center is pleased to announce its selection to participate in the international call for ideas “A Vision for Rome,” launched by Fondazione ROMA REgeneration. The initiative is promoted under the patronage of Regione Lazio and the City of Rome, and supervised by Deloitte.

This international call seeks visionary proposals for the future of Rome – proposals that respond to the evolving needs of a community increasingly engaged with issues of inclusiveness, sustainability, and livability. The initiative also aims to provide clear strategic guidance for investors and institutions, aligning socio-economic and infrastructural frameworks to foster coherent, sustainable urban development. In parallel, the call aspires to enhance the international image and investment appeal of the Italian capital.

Habitat Research Center submitted a comprehensive and multidisciplinary proposal led by affiliated professors, researchers, and collaborators from EPFL’s ENAC faculty. Bringing together a team of nearly 30 participants, the proposal reflects a wide range of expertise and perspectives. In addition to core members of the HRC, the team includes external experts from Roman academic institutions, writers, artists, and former international residents of prestigious Roman institutions such as the Villa Medici, as well as other local professionals.

This collective effort aims to articulate an ambitious yet grounded vision for Rome’s future, one that embraces inclusivity, sustainability, and territorial specificity, while critically engaging with the city’s complex historical, spatial, and socio-economic realities.
