pBID2 vectors including a new QF/Gal4 hybrid binary system released

Binary gene regulatory expression systems are a linchpin technology critical for genetic manipulations of many model organisms including in Drosophila.  In a new manuscript, Evelyne has generated a standardized & optimized series of vectors (pBID2) that support the parallel construction of Drosophila enhancer-driven ‘activator’ Gal4, LexA, or QF2 lines, along with matched vectors for generating ‘responder’ lines under UAS, LexOp, or QUAS control. We also developed a new hybrid binary transcription factor, QFG4, derived from QF and Gal4, that enables coordinated regulation of both UAS- and QUAS-controlled transgenes by Gal80, allowing synchronized temporal control of independent transgenes in distinct cells or tissues.
