Ensuring the preservation of the cold chain is of paramount importance in the food and pharmaceutical industries. This cold chain is a real challenge because it involves various stages such as logistics, transport, and preservation. None of these links must violate this chain in order to ensure the quality of a product, from its production to its use.
The WIBATTS project, comprising 5 French and 5 Swiss partners, aims to develop a system that guarantees the preservation of the cold chain, a subject of paramount importance, particularly in the food and pharmaceutical sectors. To achieve this, the objective is to synthesize a UHF RFID tag that, once the cold chain is broken, has its readout characteristics irreversibly altered therefore allowing control on the cold chain.
The contribution MEMS & Printed Microsystems group et EPFL-LMTS will be centered on the implementation of more sustainable architectures, materials and fabrication technologies.
The project is performed and funded in the frame of the Interreg cooperative EU program 2021-2027.
