Master thesis in Biomedical Engineering – The role of the renin-angiotensin system in the regulation of platelet function

Description

The renin angiotensin system (RAS) is a peptidergic hormone system, which plays a central role in the cardiovascular hemostasis. It has been documented that activation of angiotensin(Ang)-II/AT1 axis enhances platelet activation. Nevertheless, the role of recently discovered RAS components is poorly understood. The aim of this study is: 1) to investigate whether human platelets express RAS components; and 2) evaluate the effect of angiotensin peptides on the platelet function.
