Applications and deadlines
Before applying for admission, candidates should consult the websites of the laboratories participating in the Robotics, Control and Intelligent Systems program, to get acquainted with current research activities and to identify potential thesis advisers. They must then fill out the application form for the EDRS doctoral program and submit it by one of our yearly deadlines of January 15, April 30 and September 15.
Complete and validated application files (including passport copy, 3 letters of recommendation, diplomas and grades for bachelor and master, statement of purpose and CV) must be submitted before the deadline, in order to leave enough time to the recommenders, to submit their letter at the latest the day of the deadline. If the letters reach us after the deadline, the application will automatically be transferred to our next deadline.
The decision will be communicated approximately one month and a half after the deadline and in case it is positive, the candidate has one year to find a thesis advisor who will hire him in his laboratory and supervise him during his PhD studies. There is no starting date, candidates, if admissible to our doctoral program, can start anytime during the year depending on the open positions of the labortatories.
The study plan of the EDRS program requires 12 ECTS credits.
The study plan for candidates accepted with conditions is established case-by-case by the EDRS program. As reference example, for candidates having obtained a technical 4-year bachelor degree or a non-technical master degree, the EDRS program requests the acquirement of at least 18 additional ECTS credits (for instance, 10 credits through project work and 8 through course work), in addition to the 12 compulsory credits. Finally, the additional credits must be acquired during the first year of the doctoral studies.
