APPLICATION AND ADMISSION

Financial support is available for all PhD students. They are hired as EPFL employees at highly competitive rates.
If you have in mind to become a future scientist in Mechanics, you are most welcome to apply to this program.
Once you have applied online, the program’s commission will evaluate the applications. A decision will generally be taken within 6-8 weeks after the application deadline. You will be informed about their decision by e-mail.
If the doctoral committee has concluded that your file fulfills the requirements of eligibility to the doctoral program in mechanics, you will have 12 month from that date to find a research assistantship and a thesis director.
How to proceed to find a research assistanship and a thesis director?
You can check our website or the website of the human ressources department for open PhD positions and apply or you might get directly in contact with a thesis director of your choice to check if he has got any availabilities in his lab. It might also be that a thesis director gets in contact with you to eventually invite you for an interview.
The EPFL Doctoral School will soon launch a call for “EPFLinnovators”, a new programme supported by the European Union’s Marie Skłodowska-Curie programme, which is part of the Horizon 2020 framework programme.
