The Public Affairs Unit supports the EPFL Presidency in the national positioning of the School, contributes to its development, and helps promote its interests within Switzerland. The Unit is closely involved in all policy-related issues, including initiatives currently being developed at the School’s various campuses. It contributes to EPFL’s visibility in Switzerland as a key player in innovation, research, and education across the country.
The Unit supports the Presidency, the Management, and the EPFL community in their relations with political authorities and public administrations, providing advice, expertise, and analysis of political dynamics. It facilitates meetings with political partners, and maintains relationships with federal and cantonal governments, including in the context of EPFL’s expansion and the development of associated campuses.
In coordination with the ETH Board and strategic networks such as the FUTURE network, it coordinates the School’s advocacy positions and ensures that its interests are represented towards legislative institutions. Drawing on institutional data analyses provided by the Data unit of EPFL, it documents the institution’s reality to inform the definition and development of public policies impacting the School.
Finally, within Institutional Affairs, the Unit actively contributes to the Impact strategy led by the Vice Presidency for Innovation and Impact (VPI), by supporting stronger engagement between EPFL’s expert community and decision-makers.
