International Affairs

The International Affairs Unit supports the Presidency of EPFL in defining and implementing the School’s international strategy, in line with its missions and priorities. It works to position EPFL as a world-class institute of technology through the development of strategic partnerships, the management of international relations, and the coordination of visits by international delegations to campus, as well as accompanying the Presidency in its travels abroad. It also serves the community as a point of contact with international players.

The unit actively promotes academic collaboration in Europe and worldwide, engaging with key networks such as EuroTech, EuroTeQ, CESAER, as well as global alliances like Scholars at Risk. These efforts enhance EPFL’s scientific impact and visibility within the global higher education and research landscape.

As a key player in science diplomacy, the unit leverages EPFL’s proximity to the International Geneva, strengthening ties with global actors such as the United Nations, the World Economic Forum, GESDA and NGOs. It facilitates engagement with international partners in EPFL’s areas of strength and ensures the School’s active contribution to global dialogues on technological, societal, and environmental challenges.

Finally, the unit also coordinates efforts related to knowledge security. It ensures that international collaborations are built on a secure, transparent, and strategically aligned foundation.
