The MOOCs Africa Programme strives to provide STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) students from partner institutions with access to content of the same quality as that of industrialised countries while being relevant to local economies.
Using digital technology to improve the quality of higher education in sub-Saharan African universities to enable future graduates to successfully integrate into the professional world.
Higher education in sub-Saharan Africa is currently facing unprecedented challenges. In the eyes of many African policy-makers, digital education represents a unique opportunity to address the massification of universities and introduce the reforms needed to modernise higher education. In addition to population growth and the lack of financial investment in tertiary education, the current capacity of universities is not sufficient to accommodate the growing number of baccalaureate holders. The curricula on offer no longer correspond to quality standards and are not sufficiently adapted to the needs of local economies.

The MOOCs Africa programme would not have been possible without the support of its strategic and generous donor partners, nor without the active participation of its leading academic partners, actors and beneficiaries. We would like to thank all of them for their exceptional commitment.
