Artavazd (Arto) Maranjyan

Research Interests:

  • Algorithmic and mathematical foundations of optimization for machine learning, with a particular emphasis on distributed and federated learning
  • Asynchronous optimization methods for large-scale learning systems
  • Designing practically motivated algorithms with provable convergence guarantees.

 

Biography

Artavazd Maranjyan is a postdoctoral researcher at EPFL and an EPFL AI Center and Swiss AI Initiative Postdoctoral Fellow. He is hosted by Volkan Cevher at the LIONS lab, with Martin Jaggi as co-host at the MLO lab. He received his PhD in Computer Science from King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), where he was advised by Peter Richtárik. He received his MSc and BSc degrees from Yerevan State University.
