1 May 2017: Chan Cao joined our group as a Post-Doc researcher. Chan comes from the East China University of Science and Technology where she obtained a PhD in Analytical Chemistry with a thesis on single molecule analysis by biological nanopores. She will work on nanopore MD simulations, membrane investigations and relevant single molecule analysis. ​

1 September 2016: Simone Gardini joined our group as a visiting Ph.D. student. Simone comes from the lab of Structural Biology (prof. Neri Niccolai) in the University of Siena (Italy). He will work on protein-DNA interactions.

1 April 2016: Giuseppina La Sala joined our group as a visiting Ph.D. student. Giuseppina comes from the lab of Molecular Modeling and Drug Discovery (prof. Marco De Vivo) in the Italian Institute of Technology of Genova (Italy). She will work on protein kinases.

1 July 2015: Alessio Prunotto joined our group as a Ph.D. student. Alessio comes from the Polytechnic University of Turin (Italy), where he obtained a Master degree in Biomedical Engineering. He will work on the implementation of new features to the LipidBuilder server. 

1 April 2015: Giulia Fonti joined our group as a Ph.D. student. Giulia comes from the University of Ferrara (Italy), where she obtained a Master degree in Biomolecular and Cellular sciencies. She will work on the crustallization of KRAB-Zinc Fingers and the complex between KAP1 and ZNF-proteins.

1 November 2014: Deniz Aydin joined our group as a PhD student. Deniz holds a Masters degree in Chemical and Biological Engineering from Koç University (Turkey). She will work on dynamic docking and de novo molecular design.

1 August 2014: Alexandra Styliani Kalantzi joined our group as a Ph.D. student. Alexandra comes from the University of Athens (Greece), where she obtained a Master degree in Bioinformatics. She will work on protein-DNA integrative modeling.

1 October 2013:Giorgio Elikem Tamo joined our group as a Ph.D. student. Giorgio comes from the Wageningen University (Holland), where he obtained a Master degree in Bioinformatics. He will work on integrative modeling of large macromolecular assemblies.

1 June 2012: Luciano Abriata joined our group as a Post-Doc researcher. Luciano comes from the Universidad Nacional de Rosario (Argentina) where he obtained a PhD in NMR of paramagnetic metalloproteins. He will work on the effects of crowding and high solute concentrations on protein, knowledge-based modeling of proteins, and amino acid variability in proteins

10 August 2011: The CECAM workshop “Innovative Approaches to Computational Drug Discovery” will take place from October 3 to October 6 in EPFL campus.

1 June 2010: Welcome to Christophe Bovigny, who joins today our group as a Ph.D. student at the EDCH doctoral school. Christophe has a bachelor both in Biochemistry and Computer Sciences from the University of Fribourg. He will be part of a structure-based drug design project in collaboration with Prof. Doerig and Gerber at the EPFL.

1 October 2009: Shantanu Roy joined the group. He graduated in Physics at the University of Basel and he will work on the computational modeling of DNA-transcription factor interactions in collaboration with Prof. Maekl.

15 June 2009: Marco Stenta joined our group as a Post-Doc researcher. Marco comes from the University of Bologna where he obtained a PhD in Chemistry with a thesis on bio-molecular modeling of enzymes. He focused his research on understanding the catalytic proficiencies of specific enzymes.

14-18 June 2009: Our group attended the VIII European Symposium of the Protein Society in Zurich. We presented a poster on our recent work on a development of a non-radial coarse-grained potential.

19 December 2008: our work on the reaction mechanism of RNase H, recently published in JACS has been highlighted on the current issue of JACS Select dedicated to “Molecular Modeling of Complex Chemical Systems

11 December 2008: Matteo gives a talk (“Simplified electrostatics for multiscale simulations of proteins”) at the University of Uppsala for the conference “Ab initio modelling ion applied biosciences: structure, dynamics, and function”.

10 December 2008: our Linux cluster has finally been delivered today and is ready to run.

1 November 2008: Enrico Spiga joins our group as Ph.D. student. He comes from the University of Cagliari (Italy), where he obtained a Master degree in Physics. His master thesis studies transport properties of antibodies at the outer membrane surface of specific bacteria.

1 October 2008: Alina Isakova from Bart Deplancke‘s research group starts working at LBM. Alina obtained a M.Sc. in molecular biophysics at the National University in Ukraine. She’s using her expertise in studying the impact of protein interactions on transcription factor DNA specificity and affinity using structural modeling tools and microfluidics technology (in Sebastian Maerkl‘s Lab).

1 September 2008: Davide Alemani joins the group as a postdoctoral fellow. He comes from the University of Queensland, Australia, where he spent a year after receiving his Ph.D. at the University of Geneva in computational science (doctor es science mention interdisciplinaire).

4 August 2008: Thomas Lemmin joins our group as Ph.D. student. He received his Master degree in Electrical Engineering and Electronics at the EPFL.

14 July 2008: Nguyen Cong Tri from Nanyang Technological University in Singapour joins the LBM as summer student. He will stay with us until September.

18 March 2008: Matteo Degiacomi joins the LBM as the first Ph.D. student of our group. He comes directly from the EPFL, where he received his Master at the School of Computer Sciences.

1 November 2007: LBM has officially started its activity.
