Pauline and Simon presented their research at the ESB2026!

Published:13.09.26 — At the 35th Annual Conference of the European Society of Biomaterials in Antwerp, Belgium – September 7-11, 2026 – Pauline Skigin and Simon Dumolard presented a poster entitled, respectively: "Modular Synthesis of Crosslinkable Ionizable Lipids for DNA Lipid Nanoparticles" and "A Structure-Property Framework Highlighting the Role of siRNA Release from Chitosan-PEI Polyplexes"

The first paper from our Sinergia project has just been published!

Published:04.09.26 — We are very pleased to share that the recent study led by Alessandra Cavegn in the group of Prof. Jörg Huwyler at the University of Basel on the enhancement of plasmid DNA (pDNA) nuclear import has just been published in the Journal of Controlled Release. In our group, Pauline Skigin contributed to the design of conjugation strategies to functionalize the pDNA nanocarriers with targeting nuclear localization signaling (NLS) peptides.

Sandrine participates in the NANOMAT2026 conference in Brno!

Published:09.07.26 — Sandrine gave an invited lecture entitled "Bioconjugation of Aptamers to Harmonic Nanoparticles for Active Cancer Targeting" at the 10th International Conference on Functional Nanomaterials and Nanodevices (NANOMAT2026), which is held from July 7–10, 2026, in Brno, Czech Republic.

Published:07.07.26 — We are pleased to share that Dr Perrine Robin and Simon Dumolard participate in the CRS 2026 Annual Meeting & Exposition, which takes place in Lisbon, Portugal, from July 6–9, 2026, with poster contributions.

Three Ignition Grants fueling medical innovation

Published:19.06.26 — Supported by the EPFL Ignition Grant, three innovative projects, PolyDefine, Juturna Bio, and SwissIonics, are tackling some of the most pressing challenges in modern medicine. PolyDefine is developing safer, precision-engineered delivery systems for RNA therapeutics, while SwissIonics is creating advanced analytical tools to better understand and control RNA molecules. Complementing these efforts, Juturna Bio is pioneering a gene therapy approach aimed at restoring memory in Alzheimer’s patients. Together, these projects showcase cutting-edge advances across biotechnology and neuroscience, with the potential to transform the treatment of complex diseases.

Published:12.06.26 — The 2026 Symposium of the Basel Pharmaceutical Society was held on June 11, 2026 and focused on the recent advances in gene therapy, including the development of new methods and vectors and their translation to clinical applications.

Published:21.05.26 — We are very pleased to share that Leander Choudhury passed his candidacy exam. He presented his project entitled "Autonomous Discovery of Catalysts" developed in collaboration between our group and SwissCat+ under the co-supervision of MER Dr Pascal Miéville.

Published:13.05.26 — We are very pleased to share that our study on the development of multimodal imaging probes based on functionalized harmonic nanoparticles has just been released in Nanomaterials. This project was developed in collaboration with MER Dr Anne-Sophie Chauvin (EPFL, LCS), the team of Prof. Luigi Bonacina (Unige, Nonlinear BioImaging LAB) and the CIBM (Dr Kartarzyna Pierzchala, Dr Bernard Lanz). We are grateful to the group of Prof. Yannick Mugnier for providing harmonic nanocrystals and Dr Jérémie Teyssier for giving access to his microscopy platform.
