Candidacy exam @ 2026 EPFL

Congratulations to Leander who passed his candidacy exam!

— We are very pleased to share that Leander Choudhury passed his candidacy exam. He presented his project entitled "Autonomous Discovery of Catalysts" developed in collaboration between our group and SwissCat+ under the co-supervision of MER Dr Pascal Miéville.

Congratulations to Simon for his publication in Nanomaterials!

— We are very pleased to share that our study on the development of multimodal imaging probes based on functionalized harmonic nanoparticles has just been released in Nanomaterials. This project was developed in collaboration with MER Dr Anne-Sophie Chauvin (EPFL, LCS), the team of Prof. Luigi Bonacina (Unige, Nonlinear BioImaging LAB) and the CIBM (Dr Kartarzyna Pierzchala, Dr Bernard Lanz). We are grateful to the group of Prof. Yannick Mugnier for providing harmonic nanocrystals and Dr Jérémie Teyssier for giving access to his microscopy platform.

Congratulations to Anna for her paper in Chem. Sci.!

— We are pleased to announce that the work of Anna Poryvai entitled "Light-driven radical catch-and-release with BODIPY photocages" is now published in Chemical Science and is part of the 2026 Chemical Science HOT Article Collection! This study was developed in collaboration with the group of Tomas Slanina at the Czech Academy of Sciences.

— On 12-13 February 2026, we officially launched the SMILE project at the Kick-Off Meeting which was held at SUPSI in Lugano. We are very grateful to Dr Igor Stefanini for the great organization of this meeting and the visit of SUPSI laboratories and infrastructure.

  • François and Solène were the winners of the best contribution at the XXII International Conference on Bioencapsulation, Bratislava, Slovakia, September 17-19, for their poster entitled “Modification of alginate-based hydrogel microspheres for cell microencapsulation: comparison of one- and two-component hydrogel microspheres”. Congratulations!
  • Solène received the runner up Award for the Best Poster at the Swiss Chemical Society Fall Meeting 2014, Zürich, September 11, for her contribution entitled “Functionalization of second harmonic nanoparticles with inhibitors of prolyl-endopeptidases for cancer cells labelling and imaging”. Congratulations!
  • Lionel Schouwey and Julien Sautaux joined our group for their master projects. Welcome!
