The EPFL administration will now be able to collaborate with EPFL’s research labs to perform advanced analytics on its own institutional data. Our research labs are among the best in the world in areas such as machine learning, artificial intelligence, and network science, and their knowhow can help EPFL policy makers better understand how the numbers should influence their strategy.
The Campus Analytics project is an initiative by the Center for Digital Education (CEDE) to bring together these two sides of EPFL that don’t often communicate with each other (see mission), and encourage them to work together for their mutual benefit as well as the collective benefit of EPFL.
This project is a major step towards making EPFL a leader in the domains of data science and machine learning, and creating a culture of “crunching our own numbers” with the technical knowhow we already possess.
