EPFL trains engineers, scientists and architects for Switzerland and the world. EPFL ensures that its education programmes provide students with the skills needed.
On behalf of the EPFL Direction, the Associate Vice-Presidency for Education (AVP-E) defines the strategy for Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes. EPFL’s teaching Sections are responsible for implementing this strategy. They rely on the advice of advisory committees, academic committees and teaching committees (which include student representatives) to manage the Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes. The Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes are accredited by the Commission for Engineering Qualifications (CTI) every six years. Students help improve courses by providing feedback (see Course quality system).
On behalf of the EPFL Direction, the Associate Vice-Presidency for Doctoral and Continuing Education (AVP-DLE) sets the strategy for doctoral education. The heads of the doctoral programmes are responsible for their implementation. They rely on the advice of the doctoral programme committees and the Doctoral Committee (Cdoct) to manage the doctoral education. Students are members of these committees. Doctoral programmes are regularly peer-reviewed (the last review took place in 2023).
