Bachelor SIE

A Bachelor’s degree is the first major step in higher education. It opens the door to Master’s studies at EPFL or at other universities across the globe.
The first year (60 ECTS credits) of the Bachelor program, called propaedeutic cycle, focuses on basic scientific training in mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology and computer science. The second and third year (120 ECTS credits) include general training in environmental sciences and classes devoted to engineering techniques. Particular emphasis is placed on the development of programming skills, as well as on the use of sensors and the numerical analysis of environmental data sets.
A total of 180 ECTS credits are required to complete the Bachelor’s degree.
The SIE Bachelor program is taught mainly in French and some courses are in English. Students can also take the first year Math and Physics courses in German or English.
