Cluster specifications

Izar is an Intel Xeon-Gold based cluster, available to the EPFL research community.

  • Peak performance Rpeak: 1’145 TFLOPs
  • 2’640 cores total
  • 136 GPUs total
  • Total RAM: 12.4 TB
  • Storage (scratch): 253 TB, max 10 GB/s IO bandwidth
  • Infiniband HDR 100 Gb

The cluster is composed of:

  • one front end,
  • one master node in charge of administration and backup,
  • one dedicated data movement/transfer node,
  • 70 compute nodes, each with
    • 2 Xeon-Gold processors running at 2.1 GHz, with 20 cores each,
    • 2 NVIDIA V100 PCIe 32 GB GPUs (2×7TFLOPS)
    • 3.2 TB NVMe local drive,
    • 35 nodes with 192 GB of DDR4 RAM,
    • 35 nodes with 384 GB of DDR4 RAM
  • 2 compute nodes, each with
    • 2 Xeon-Gold processors running at 2.1 GHz, with 20 cores each,
    • 4 NVIDIA V100 SXM2 32 GB GPUs (4×7.8TFLOPS)
    • 768 GB of DDR4 RAM,
    • 2x 3.2 TB NVMe local drive
