    The award citation reads:

Victor Panaretos is honoured with this award for substantial contributions to both the theory of statistics and for its applications to the biological sciences. Victor Panaretos introduced the stochastic Radon transform, and the Radon diffusion process, and brought the field of shape theory to bear on the electron microscopy problem of inferring the structure of protein assemblies from two dimensional images.
