
We first do exoprofiling to understand the lake’s physical and chemical conditions, then use the SubOcean to measure methane and nitrous oxide in real time and validate the data with lab analyses.

Activities : The team conducted fieldwork on Lake Geneva to study greenhouse gases. Using the advanced SubOcean probe, we measured methane and nitrous oxide profiles down to 100 meters, alongside environmental parameters. Water and nutrient samples were also collected to better understand the microbial and biogeochemical processes driving gas production. The mission is part of a long-term program assessing the role of Swiss lakes in global greenhouse gas emissions.
