To achieve a decarbonized world, clean energy sources will have to be widely adopted – yet there’s a range of obstacles in the way. A number of EPFL researchers are studying these obstacles and mapping out strategies for getting past them. Here’s a look at some of their findings.

New SNSF project grant on clean energy transition

The chair of Policy and Sustainability of Prof. Michaël Aklin has received funding from the SNSF to launch a 4 year project entitled "Managing a just transition to Net-Zero." The project will assess job market vulnerabilities to the clean energy transition in Europe and beyond, as well as policy solutions to mitigate them.

A recent study co-authored by Prof. Michaël Aklin (Lim et al. 2023) was cited in the Biden administration's Economic Report of the President. To accelerate the clean energy transition in the US, policymakers must address frictions created by the lack of mobility of workers, especially in the fossil fuel sector.
