02.06.2023 – Prof. Annalisa Buffa has been awarded a SNF project titled “PDE tools for analysis-aware geometry processing in simulation science“. Prof. Annalisa Buffa and Dr. Jochen Hinz are happy to announce the opening of two positions for PhD candidates working on spline-based parameterisation techniques and their applications to plasma physics. More specifically, under Prof. Annalisa Buffa’s supervision, the first PhD candidate will be working on numerical schemes for computing invertible harmonic maps between simply and multiply-connected domains in two and two-and-a-half spatial dimensions. In close collaboration with EPFL’s Swiss Plasma Center, Prof. Annalisa Buffa and Dr. Jochen Hinz, the second PhD candidate will be tasked to develop a robust staggered mesh generator for various geometry types that are frequently-encountered in plasma physics research. All developed techniques will be made available to the scientific community in an open-source Python library. |
