Tobias J. Kippenberg is Full Professor of Physics and Electrical Engineering at EPFL and leads the Laboratory of Photonics and Quantum Measurements. He obtained his BA at the RWTH Aachen, and MA and PhD at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech in Pasadena, USA).

Biography
Pierre-Luc Piveteau is a Nanofabrication Engineer at the Laboratory of Photonics and Quantum Measurements (LPQM) at EPFL.
His work focuses on developing advanced thin-film deposition and ion-beam trimming techniques for next-generation photonic integrated circuits (PICs) and lasers, leading a 2-year industrial research collaboration with the Bühler group.
Pierre-Luc obtained his Master’s degree in Engineering from École Polytechnique (Palaiseau, France) in 2018 and a Master’s degree in Materials Science from Sorbonne Université (Paris) in 2019. He completed his PhD in Materials Science and Engineering at EPFL in 2024 under the supervision of Prof. Fabien Sorin, focusing on all-dielectric nanophotonics via glass-fluid instabilities.

Changhao Han obtained his Ph.D. degree in Communication and Information System from Peking University in 2023 under the supervision of Prof. Xingjun Wang. Then he joined the research group of Prof. John E. Bowers as a postdoctoral researcher in University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) from Sep. 2023 to Sep. 2025. After this, he worked in GlobalFoundries Singapore (AMF team) as a principal engineer from Oct. 2025 to Dec. 2025. Currently, Changhao Han is a postdoctoral researcher in the group of Prof. Tobias J. Kippenberg at the LPQM in EPFL.

Biography
Yanwu Liu obtained his Ph.D. in Optics from Peking University in 2025, working in Qi-Fan Yang’s group. His Ph.D. work focused on integrated optical frequency combs, including Kerr combs, integrated supercontinuum generation, and high-dimensional structured light. He is also an active open-source developer, with software projects totaling over ten thousand downloads. Yanwu joined the Laboratory of Photonics and Quantum Measurements (LPQM) at EPFL as a postdoctoral researcher in January 2026.

Yichi Zhang obtained his Ph.D. in optical sciences from the University of california, Davis in 2023. His PhD research focus is photonic integrated circuits for optical sensing and communication. Currently, Yichi Zhang is a postdoc researcher at EPFL in the group of Prof. Tobias Kippenberg at the Laboratory of Photonics and Quantum Measurements.

Junyin Zhang graduated from the University of Science and Technology of China in 2022 with a bachelor’s degree in physics and a graduation project on inertial electrostatic confinement fusion. Before joining LPQM he was fascinated by several research topics, including the combination of machine learning and statistical physics, and optomechanics like Brillouin scattering.

Shuhang Zheng is a PhD student with a background in opto-electronic science and engineering from Zhejiang University. Before joining LPQM he was fascinated by several research topics, including optical phased array with LNOI and algorithms on place recognition for automous driving. Now, his research interests include quantum cavity electro-optics. and the application of ferroelectric materials at cryogenic temperatures.
