The study of how power, economic systems, and political structures influence—and are influenced by—design practices, processes, and outcomes. It examines how design operates within broader systems of production, labor, capital, regulation, and ideology, revealing whose interests are served, whose voices are marginalized, and how value is assigned and distributed in the creation of built, visual, and material environments.
