CLEER: CLearinghouse of Engineering Education Research

CLEER (Clearinghouse of Engineering Education Resources) is a curated platform that makes high-quality engineering education research and practice more accessible. It helps educators and researchers find and evaluate evidence-informed insights to improve teaching and learning.

Abstract

The CLearinghouse of Engineering Education Resources (CLEER; cleer.euroteq.eu) is an initiative under the EuroTeQ European University alliance (euroteq.eu) that is designed to bridge the gap between educational research and teaching practice in engineering education.
While research in this field continues to grow, many findings remain inaccessible or unused by educators due to time constraints, disciplinary fragmentation, and the overwhelming volume of available literature.
CLEER addresses these challenges by curating high-quality research and practice papers and making them easily searchable through intuitive, natural-language tools.
This curation process reduces the number of studies educators need to screen, ensuring that only relevant and reliable work is presented.
In doing so, CLEER supports evidence-informed teaching by helping engineering educators, early-career researchers, and pedagogical advisors efficiently locate materials that can inform course design and educational innovation.
Although CLEER already enhances access to relevant studies, an important ongoing goal is to better understand what makes educational research literature truly useful and usable for educators.
By combining expert review, intelligent search features, and an emphasis on practical relevance, CLEER contributes a concrete step toward narrowing the long-standing divide between research and practice in engineering education.
