Who we are

Stefan Behnisch
architect, Stuttgart
Visiting Professor AR

Born 1957 in Stuttgart, Behnisch studied philosophy and economics in Munich, and then architecture at the Technical University of Karlsruhe. After his diploma he worked as an architect in Behnisch & Partner before establishing his own practice in 1989 together with Professor Günter Behnisch. In the following years he founded further offices in Los Angeles, Boston and Munich, meanwhile all called Behnisch Architekten and directed by him together with various partners. He is currently EPFL invited professor in architecture. Restoring a sustainable built environment is a major responsibility of the architects today. Rehabilitation and modernization have to be carried out in a broad environmentally responsible manner at different levels. A combination of simple materials, a minimum of technical installations, operable windows and natural ventilation provide for much improved working conditions.
