Security and Intervention

Our Objectives and Mission

The Security, Intervention and Safeguarding (SIS) service is tasked with ensuring the safety and protection of both people and infrastructure on the EPFL campus. Our intervention team, available 24/7, responds to emergencies such as fire or gas alarms and incidents requiring first aid, and can call on volunteer firefighters and internal first responders (SDIS – EPFL). Beyond managing emergency responses, SIS also ensures the day-to-day security of the campus. We conduct on-site checks, contribute to the analysis of construction projects, oversee safety during events, and manage access via the CAMIPRO card. This card facilitates campus navigation, grants entry to protected areas, and serves as a means of payment at various outlets. Through all these measures, we maintain a secure, functional, and comfortable environment for everyone at EPFL.

The Services We Offer :

Emergency Response

The campus relies on a well-organised emergency structure centred on a 24/7 response team, which may be reinforced by the School’s internal first responders and volunteer firefighters (SDIS – EPFL).

Security

Specialised teams maintain constant vigilance, carry out preventive inspections, and consider various security aspects, ensuring facility safety and enabling a swift intervention when necessary.

CAMIPRO

The Camipro card is your key to the EPFL campus, effectively serving as your student or staff ID. This electronic chip card grants access to numerous functions, benefits, and services across EPFL.

Travel Risks for Academic and Professional Purposes

Travel can involve unexpected events. To help you prepare, we offer useful information for planning your trip, joining an overseas assistance programme, and dealing with unforeseen situations.

Evacuation

We establish clear guidelines to ensure a safe and efficient evacuation in the event of a fire or any other emergency on campus. Secure assembly points are designated to gather evacuees and support coordinated incident management.
