ADRAC 2015

4th Abu Dhabi International Research and Development Conference and Exhibition

The Laboratory of Soil Mechanics participated at the 4th ADRAC Conference and Exhibition. ADRAC is the first dedicated International Research & Development Conference and Exhibition in the Middle East for the Oil & Gas sector. The event took place at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center in Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates), on 24-26 May 2015.  Hosted by Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), the 4th ADRAC gathered over 100 academic and research institutions and over 1000 delegates over the three-day period. Eight technical sessions were organized, covering Surface and Subsurface programs.

Three oral presentations have been done by Professor Lyesse Laloui:
  • “Coupling geochemistry with geomechanics in modeling diagenesis in carbonate reservoirs”, in the session Reservoir Characterization and Modelling
  •    “Adaptation of energy geostructures to arid and semi-arid climates”, in the session Energy Efficiency and Environment
  •   “Injection strategies to optimize smart water injection in carbonate rocks”, in the session Enhanced Oil and Gas Recovery

During the conference, an exhibitor space has been reserved for the Laboratory of Soil Mechanics (EPFL). The core of the research activities related to the oil and gas industry currently performed at LMS-EPFL was presented, focusing in particular on the advanced multiphysical testing of complex geomaterials and the modelling of CO2 injection.
