Particle Into Liquid Sampler (PILS, ADI 2081, Applikon Analytical, Metrohm AG, CH) is an aerosol sampling device that collects particles from an airstream and transfers them into a supersaturated water vapor phase, causing them to rapidly grow into droplets. These droplets are then transported by a peristaltic pump either to a vial for offline analysis or directly into instruments for online measurements of ions, metals, organic aerosols, and other components.
