We are delighted to share that Ian Florin has recently published a new article in EchoGéo (Issue 70, 2024). Titled The Contrasting Opening of an Ecofrontier in Post-Soviet Russia: The Green Belt of Fennoscandia, this study explores the emergence of the Green Belt of Fennoscandia through the lens of critical geopolitics. The article examines how this ecological corridor has been conceptualized, institutionalized, and influenced by post-Soviet geopolitical imaginaries.
This work contributes significantly to understanding the intersection of nature conservation and geopolitics in a region shaped by historical, environmental, and political complexities. The research sheds light on transboundary cooperation and the challenges posed by shifting international relations.
