We organize a five day long conference in August 2027 on pure and applied algebraic topology in les Diablerets at the SwissMAP research station. The conference also serves to honor Kathryn Hess and her exceptional scientific contributions. A professor at EPFL since 1999, she has been a leading figure in fostering interactions between deep pure mathematics and applications, including influential work in neuroscience, while remaining at the forefront of foundational research in algebraic topology. The breadth of topics represented by the invited speakers mirrors the diversity and interdisciplinary reach of her research, and reinforces the conference’s goal of unifying theory and application
