SHS Study Plan

The SHS Program is structured in three stages: a first block of two semesters (BA2 and BA3), entitled “Applied SHS,” introduces students to interdisciplinarity by addressing current global issues from technical, scientific, and social perspectives. In BA2, all students take a single common course on the theme of sustainability. In BA3, they tackle topics related to global issues currently facing science, such as health, communication, AI, energy, ethics, and more.

The second part of the Bachelor’s degree, called “General SHS,” consists mainly of an introduction to the humanities. Over three semesters (BA4 to BA6), students work with specialists in each field to discover the theories, methods, and subjects of one or more humanities disciplines, depending on their needs and interests. The pluralization of disciplinary perspectives on the world aims to strengthen students’ ability to understand the contexts of engineering professions, but also their ability to communicate beyond their own discipline, to bring different cultural areas into dialogue, and to collaboratively develop creative solutions that are equitable, respectful of diversity, and sustainable.

Finally, during the first year of the Master’s program, students develop and apply their learning through a “SHS Project.” This project is carried out in two stages: the fall semester is devoted to presenting a theoretical and methodological foundation, while the spring semester focuses on completing a project with personalized educational support.
