Optimizing the use of alpine lake water bacteria with antiviral properties to combat viral diseases in hydroponic cultures (HYDROVIR)

The number of epidemic events caused by plant viruses infecting crops are nowadays increasing, favoured by the intensification of seed and seedling exchanges. Breeders dedicate intensive efforts to produce crop varieties resistant to viral diseases, but there is a strong need for better antiviral compounds or strategies. The goal of the HYDROVIR project is to optimize and validate the use of environmental bacteria to combat viral diseases in hydroponic cultures as a novel technology to biologically control viruses in crops.
